Mariners are advised that, between the 27th October and 7th November, contractors instructed by the Environment Agency will be undertaking Sediment Sampling and Trawling operations in various locations through Port Limits. Works are expected to take no longer than 10 days and will be undertaken in daylight hours only.

Trawling Operations will be completed between the 27th and the 30th October, in Woolwich Reach, Gravesend Reach, and the Southend Anchorages, at a speed of no greater than 3 knots. Works are estimated to take no longer that 60 minutes in each location.

Sediment Sampling and Grabbing Operations will be completed between the 5th and the 7th November in 15 locations across multiple districts. Each sample will take no longer than 30 minutes in each location. All locations are outside the authorised navigational channel.

Vessels involved in operations include the “HUMBER GUARDIAN” and “SAORSA NA MARA”.

Due to the nature of works, vessels are to navigate with extreme caution ensuring vessel wash is kept to a minimum, with positive monitoring of any VTS instruction.

Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘Speed Reductions’, with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’ displayed, which are illustrated below:
