Reach(es)

Due to works taking place at Rippleway Wharf, Barking Creek, the authorised channel will at times be impeded by works vessels; as per the associated Notice to Mariners for Barking Reach – Rippleway Wharf.

To facilitate the safe passage of reporting vessels, it is critical that the below procedure is followed as this will allow works vessels to be moved and permit safe passage:

1.) All reporting vessels intending to transit Barking Creek, and/or leave a berth within Barking Creek, must inform London VTS:

  • 24 hours in advance of their ETA to Barking Barrier inbound; or
  • 24 hours in advance of their ETD from the berth outbound.

This should be executed by emailing [email protected] with the subject line “Barking Creek Movement”. If no response is received within one hour, this should be followed up by a phone call (0203 260 771).

2.) Vessels should not proceed past their final abort point outside Barking Creek, or leave their berth within Barking Creek, unless confirmation has been received from London VTS that the authorised channel at Rippleway Wharf is clear .

Failure to notify London VTS and comply with the above procedure may mean that the channel cannot be cleared, thus resulting in delays to the reporting vessel.

This process should be followed for the duration of the associated Notice to Mariners
