Mariners are advised that on or about Thursday 19th June 2025 contractors for the Royal Docks will continue repair works on the outer lock gate of the King George V Lock.
These works are expected to be completed at the end of July.
To facilitate these works the outer lock gate will remain open, and regular diving operations will take place.
When diving is taking place, contractors will display the following International Code Flags:
By day, International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’, ‘Alpha (A)’ and a red flag near the diver’s point of entry into the water.
By night, illuminated rigid replicas of the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’ and ‘Alpha (A)’.
Any requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed, will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’ displayed, which are illustrated above.
The display of these signals will be in addition to any lights or shapes required under local regulations and the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea.
Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 14.
