On Tuesday 22nd April, contractors working on behalf of the City of London will commence abseiling operations to repair lighting on Tower Bridge. These works will take place overnight and are expected to take 5 nights.   

To accommodate these works Tower Bridge No 1 and 3 arches will be closed as per the table below:

*Only one arch will be closed at a time. 

Arches closed to navigation will be marked in accordance with the Port of London Authority Thames Byelaws 2012 namely:  

  • By day, three red discs 0.6 metres in diameter at the points of an equilateral triangle with the apex downwards and the base horizontal 
  • By night, three red lights in similar positions to the discs displayed by day.

Safety vessel PRONTO, will be in attendance throughout and maintaining a listening watch on VHF Channel 14. 

Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 14
