On or about 12th February 2024, works will commence for the temporary removal of Lambeth Fire Pontoon. The pontoon will be towed away on or about 16th February 2024 to Lowestoft for drydocking and scheduled to return in July 2024.
The brow of the pier will remain in position and be supported by hospital piles at the western end. Navigation lights will continue to mark the extent of pier on the upstream and downstream dolphins.
At times, during removal and installation works of the pontoon, requests for vessels to proceed with caution or pass at slow speed will be made by London VTS on VHF ch.14, in accordance with the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, section 4. International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’ will be displayed accordingly.
