Putney to host upper River Thames public meeting
What is the latest on the Harbour Revision Order, a review updating the Port of London Authority’s (PLA’s) legislative powers?
How is the PLA’s £500,000 upgrade of Richmond Lock and Weir progressing?
These questions and more will be answered at the PLA’s latest public meeting, focussed on the upper tidal Thames, from Teddington to Chelsea on Tuesday 25 February from 6.30 pm. The venue is London Rowing Club (Putney Embankment, SW15 1LB)
A presentation by Robin Mortimer, the PLA’s CEO, will be followed by a question and answer session, giving members of the public a chance to raise matters of interest. Potential questioners are asked to register the topic they want to discuss in advance via firstname.lastname@example.org. This will enable the PLA to ensure that the relevant in-house experts are on hand to answer the matters raised.
Robin Mortimer said: “With so much happening on the river in 2020, its important for us to keep local people updated.
“It’s always useful to get their perspective on our works and the projects we are involved with, such as the Thames Tideway Tunnel and the development of Fulham Football Club’s new stadium.
“We genuinely want to hear what issues are on people minds and how we can help, so I hope there will be a good turn-out.”
Other subjects on the agenda include an update on the PLA’s work to achieve the Thames Vision 2035 goals, an ambitious programme designed to maximise the social, economic and recreational value of the river, whilst protecting the environment.
Refreshments will be available from 6pm.
Similar public meetings for the middle and lower reaches of the tidal River Thames will follow later in the year.
