Enforcement
Our River Works Enforcement Officers investigate, undertake compliance and enforcement action under sections 66-73 of the Port of London Act 1968 (as amended).
It is an offence under the Act to construct, place, alter, renew, maintain or retain works which are in, on, under or over the River Thames without an appropriate licence in place.
Unlicensed works, and breaches of licence conditions are investigated expeditiously with a view to resolve the issue through negotiation, notices and prosecution for non-compliance.
The Port of London Act 1968 (as amended) provides the PLA with the powers to impose fines and further prosecution through the courts for non-compliance.
Please fill out the form to submit your enquiry to the Enforcement team.
