Survey Support for Centrica Storage
Our hydrography team sailed to the Rough offshore gas field in September, approximately 30km off the coast of East Yorkshire, to survey key gas supply infrastructure operated by Centrica Storage Limited.
Paul Cowderoy, Gary Eve, Imran Eyre and Phil Hansford from “PLA Hydro” were aboard our specialist vessel Maplin in the southern North Sea for nine days, to check the condition of approximately 50km of gas pipelines, along with the condition of the jacket leg to seabed interfaces on two fixed steel offshore installations.
Richard Burdett, from Centrica Storage Limited, said: “The PLA team provided an efficient and cost-effective service, demonstrating excellent agility at the eleventh hour, following a late scope change. The work was completed on time and schedule, despite some operational challenges in the field which limited vessel access.”
Our port hydrographer, John Dillon-Leetch, said: “Our strong working relationship with Centrica Storage Limited, dating back to 2008, shows how the expertise we have developed on the Thames can help businesses from further afield too.”
The hydro team’s competitively tendered contracts generate income for the PLA to invest in improving the tidal Thames.
